Andrew Strauss bio: England National Cricket team

Andrew John Strauss MBE (born 2 March 1977) is an English cricketer who plays county cricket on behalf of Middlesex County Cricket Club and is captain of the England cricket team. Strauss, a left-handed opener, likes to play on the backfoot, mostly taking a cut and pull shots. Strauss is also known for his strong fielding in slip and cover area.

Early Career:

He started his first-class career in 1998 and played the first ODI against Sri Lanka in 2003. He made his debut in 2004 against New Zealand at Lord's in place of the injured Michael Vaughan. In England's victory, he scored 112 and 83 (run out) and won the Man of the Match award, becoming only the fourth player to score a century at Lord's in his first match, scoring a century in both innings of his first match.

Strauss again scored nearly two centuries in his first match abroad (126 and 94 not out) in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, in December 2004, and was named man of the match. Strauss was relegated to his playing standard during 2007.

The fallout resulted in him not being included in the Test squad for the Sri Lanka tour of England and announced that he was taking a break from cricket. In 2008, after a poor tour of England, Strauss was recalled to the squad for the tour of New Zealand and subsequently scored his career-best score of 177 in the third and final Test of the series and further three more centuries in 2008 himself. Restored to the team.

Strauss, who became the acting captain of England in place of Michael Vaughan in 2006, was permanently appointed captain of England for the West Indies tour following the resignation of Kevin Pietersen in 2008/09.

International career:

First-year (2003-04)
Strauss got his first chance in international cricket on England's tour of the Indian subcontinent, but he mostly played only the twelfth player; Strauss, who considered himself better in the long-form of the game, was surprised when he was selected in the one-day squad.

Although he was not selected in the main team, Strauss got a chance to play in a match in the tour where he became a hero by opening slow but rhythmic innings of 51 runs in a 146-run opening partnership.

Andrew Strauss Star Opening batsman England National Cricket team bio, As England reached Sri Lanka directly from Bangladesh, Strauss continued to pressurize England opener Vikram Solanki by scoring a top 83 against Solanki's five-ball zero in a tour match, and as a reward for England When he got a chance to play for the first time, he lost by ten wickets in that disappointing match, he was playing for the first time by Sri Lanka, Dinusha Fernando. He was caught and bowled out, after which he was kept out of the remaining matches of the tour.

Strauss was given another chance in the tour of the West Indies, even taking him into the Test team due to Mark Butcher's injury. Even then he was only given a chance in the one-day squad, but Playing in third place apart from his original order, he made an impact by scoring the highest 29 runs in England's struggling win.

This match was eventually lost to England, giving Strose a stunning first international catch.  He helped level the series by winning the final match with his 66-run contribution.

Strauss joined Lord's honor board by scoring a century on his Test debut.

Strauss returned home to start the English season, but Strauss got the green signal to make his first Test appearance as Vaughan sustained a knee injury during net practice. The original plan was that Mark Butcher at this time Be promoted to the position of the empty opener and Paul Collingwood be included in the middle order.

Butcher refused to go up the order and played in the third order, which meant that Strauss was asked to start batting and Collingwood had to sit out of the team. Vaughan's injury proved lucky for Strauss, who contributed the highest 112 runs in his first Test innings and scored 82 runs before being run out in the second innings, with the responsibility for the run-out being acknowledged by Nasir Hussain.

With this performance Strauss joined a series of elite players, becoming the second Englishman to score a century in his first match at Lord's, the third opener to score a century in the first match, a century in the first match.

The fifteenth English player, the first since Graham Thorpe in 1993  and became only the fourth Englishman to score a century and a half-century in his first match.
