Shivnarayan Chandrapaul (born 14 August 1949) is a Guyana cricketer of the Indian Bhumihar dynasty and a former international cricket and captain of the West Indies. He is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of his time. Chandrapaul is the first Indo-Caribbean player to play 100 Tests for the West Indies, and the third player with an international career of more than two decades after Sachin Tendulkar of India and Sri Lanka Sanath Jayasuriya.

Internation Career:

Chandrapaul made his debut in international cricket at the age of 19 but had not scored a century in international cricket for three years, drawing some criticism. At the beginning of his career, he was suffering from injuries for a long time. Chandrapaul is currently the eighth highest run-scorer in Test cricket with 11 runs.

Chandrapaul was dropped from the West Indies squad in 2015 due to poor performance. After that, he announced his retirement from international cricket in 2014, at the age of 41, without farewell. He did not even open an account in his last Test innings which was played against England on 1 May 2015 at Bridgetown.
